Biophilic Design at Ambong Pool Villas – A Harmony with Nature
Biophilic design is at the heart of Ambong Pool Villas, blending architecture with the natural world to promote well-being and relaxation. This approach creates spaces that are not just beautiful but also deeply restorative.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living
Each villa is designed to maximise the connection with nature. Floor-to-ceiling windows, open layouts, and private pools ensure that guests always feel surrounded by the rainforest.
Natural Materials & Local Craftsmanship
Sustainability is key at Ambong Pool Villas. Minimal earthworks were carried out during construction to honour the natural terrain, and few trees were felled, preserving the surrounding ecosystem. Our villas are designed to accommodate existing trees, allowing native species like Bongor and Merambong to thrive. Recycled hardwoods and sustainably sourced rubberwood are used throughout, ensuring an eco-friendly, low-impact retreat that blends seamlessly with nature.
Beautifully handwoven mats crafted by the Penan women of Sarawak add a meaningful touch to our interiors, celebrating traditional craftsmanship while supporting indigenous artisans.
Maximising Natural Light & Ventilation
Thoughtfully designed openings and orientation allow for ample natural light and airflow, reducing the need for artificial lighting and air conditioning, creating a more sustainable and refreshing stay.
Biodiversity & Landscape Integration
Rather than altering the environment, Ambong Pool Villas is designed around the natural landscape, preserving trees, flora, and the habitats of local wildlife. We have left the original animals and birds that occupied our patch of forest undisturbed, allowing them to continue thriving in their natural habitat. Guests may even be lucky enough to spot these native species during their stay, adding to the immersive rainforest experience.
By prioritising biophilic design, Ambong Pool Villas enhances guests’ connection to nature, providing a luxurious yet grounding retreat.
